Introducing Norrwyn
Today we're publicly introducing Norrwyn, a remote-first, experience-driven game studio. It represents our commitment to making great games, while doing our part to support the industry.
We're excited to announce Norrwyn, a studio which represents our growth over the past three years, and lays the groundwork for many years to come.
The name Norrwyn originates from a combination of words:
- Norr, inspired by the wild and untamed spirit of the north, where adventures begin and unique memories are created.
- Wyn, from old english, meaning joy or bliss. Because the best adventures are the ones that stay with you long after they are over.
Together, Norrwyn represents our mission: To craft experiences that bring this sense of thrill, adventure or happiness right to you.
Our approach
Our approach to making games, is a commitment to creating memorable experiences, while being transparent, fair, and contributing back to the industry.
To that end, we have three main goals:
- Build a sustainable studio
- Craft unique, memorable experiences
- Give back to the game dev industry
Here's how we're making these happen:
Building a Sustainable Studio
We believe that great games come from creative freedom and diverse, stress-free environments. Right now, that means balancing partner projects with developing our first title.
Crafting Unique, Memorable Experiences
Games are unique mediums which inspire us, challenge us, spread positivity, educate us on unknown topics, and even create friendships. We're making something that would have this impact on us, so that it can have the same impact on others.
Giving Back to the Game Dev Industry
We didn't get to where we are without the help of many people along our way. It's our time to do the same. This means:
- Sharing Knowledge - Through devlogs, blog posts, tutorials or YouTube videos.
- Collaboration over competition - Supporting other studios and artists.
- Contributing tools and resources - Releasing assets or code that can help the community grow.
After three years, we're just getting started.
